This Waterfront Cabin in Mississippi Is Made for Stargazing
Overlooking the Tenn-Tom Waterway, this cabin in Mississippi is perfect for stargazing.
One of my favorite reasons to look forward to summer is getting back into the Milky Way Season. In the Northern Hemisphere, the Milky Way season runs from roughly March until October. With April being Global Astronomy Month, what better way to celebrate than by doing a little stargazing? This waterfront cabin in Mississippi is perfect for stargazing (and so much more), and you’ll love it. Let’s check it out:
Fulton is a small city in Northeast Mississippi just a stone’s throw away from the Mississippi-Alabama border. It’s a great area to use as a home base while you explore nearby natural areas like Tishomingo State Park and Tombigbee Lake State Park. It’s also close to Tupelo, and there are plenty of things to do there (including visiting the Elvis Presley Museum).
This lovely rental in Fulton, Mississippi, offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms and can comfortably accommodate six guests. I love how spacious it is—you can bring the whole fam without feeling cramped.
The best part of this Airbnb is the view. Enjoy magnificent views of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, which has some absolutely mesmerizing sunset views.
Since you’ll have such an open view, it’s a great spot to stargaze. Guests can enjoy views from the deck or head down to the pier for an even better view.
One of the problems I always run into while stargazing is that, eventually, my neck hurts from looking up for so long. These lounge chairs are absolutely perfect for stargazing—no neck problems!
For meals, you have to swing by Guy’s Place. This restaurant in Fulton overlooks the water and boasts a menu full of succulent seafood, beastly burgers, mouthwatering steaks, and more. The sunsets over the Tenn-Tom Waterway are not to be missed, and you’ll have a front-row seat to them whether you’re at Guy’s Place or back at the Airbnb.
I’d highly recommend staying here for at least two or three nights. Stargazing needs clear skies, and Mother Nature has a sense of humor and loves to send over cloudy nights when you least expect it. Spending a few nights here will give you the best odds of having at least one clear night to stargaze.
