The Magnolia State is full of state parks, each with something to offer. And if you're wondering where to find the most beautiful waterfalls around, Tishomingo State Park in Mississippi is the place for you! Easily one of the best parks in Mississippi, it's brimming with perks, including a charming swinging bridge, huge rock formations, and waterfalls, of course! Get ready for a trip you won't forget anytime soon and head out on an outdoor adventure this weekend.
Because of its location in the foothills of the Appalachians, Tishomingo State Park features huge rock formations, which are pretty rare in Mississippi.
It really makes this one of the most special places you can visit in the state.
The enormous rocks also help to create another Mississippi rarity – waterfalls, making Tishomingo State Park a must-visit destination for those seeking waterfalls in Mississippi.
Depending on recent rainfall, the waterfalls will vary in number and size.
But there is one thing that stays consistent: Tishomingo State Park waterfalls are always gorgeous!
Luckily, there are plenty of trails and bridges to get you up close to the park’s best sites.
The park's accessibility is just one more fantastic feature of this fun place.
One of the most popular trails is the Bear Creek Outcropping Trail.
Once you've taken a walk here, you will understand why!
The 3.6-mile loop trail, which leads to beautiful waterfalls and incredible rock formations, begins and ends at the park’s swinging bridge.
Another popular trek is the CCC Camp Trail. The 3-mile trail begins at a historic pioneer cabin, which can be reached by a quaint wooden bridge.
It's like stepping back in time in the best way to walk here.
As the trail continues, it traverses rocky outcrops as well as several springs and streams.
It just doesn't get any more tranquil than this.
The trails aren’t the only way to take in the park’s unique landscapes and stunning scenery, though. There’s also Bear Creek, a scenic stream settled within the bluffs of the park, which just so happens to be perfect for canoeing.
To make sure your canoeing adventure goes off without a hitch, the park offers a 6.25-mile float trip down the rocky-bottomed stream.
*Float trips are available from mid-April until mid-October.
There are several options when it comes to staying overnight at Tishomingo. In addition to cabins, there’s a cottage, 62 RV campsites, and a primitive campsite.
Enjoy your night so you can go out and have a blast again the next day!
