Shop ‘Til You Drop At Mt. Croghan Flea Market, One Of The Most Charming Flea Markets In South Carolina
Mt. Croghan Flea Market in South Carolina offers a charming shopping experience under a grove of mature trees with a rich historical background.
Every Sunday during warm weather months, folks travel long distances for the charming experience of visiting the Mt. Croghan Flea Market in the itty bitty town of Mt. Croghan in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. And it's really no wonder why! The setting, alone, makes the trip worth it. You see, the flea market sets up under a grove of mature pecan and live oak trees and so the views are nearly as glorious as the shade.
As far as flea markets in the Palmetto State go, Mt. Croghan is the cream of the crop.
It's found right on Highway 9, which runs between Pageland and Mt. Croghan, a tiny South Carolina town of fewer than 200 residents. On warm weather Sundays, though, the town's population swells as folks flood into the flea market.
The setting alone is gorgeous.
The property on which it sits is relaxing and rustic and nestled in a beautiful pecan grove that is oh so inviting!
The property is historic as well, dating all the way back to the Civil War.
At that time there was a family home, sawmill, and blacksmith belonging to the Taylor family. However, when General William Tecumseh Sherman came marching through with the Union Army, everything was burned to the ground. Betcha didn’t think you were going to get a history lesson too!
Despite the destruction, the Taylor family has still owned the property for five generations.
The flea market here has been going strong for more than 40 years. Many of the vendors have 15-30 years under their belt at this flea market alone.
Everything from vintage items to wonderful new stuff can be found here every single Sunday, come rain or shine.

The regular hours of the Mt. Croghan Flea Market is 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. But they do stay open later on occasion for special events.
There are lots of food vendors on site as well, selling everything from the best hot dogs in the state, to ethnic food, boiled peanuts, and so much more, so plan to stay a while and refuel when you need to.
