South Carolina offers a variety of top-notch hotdog joints that locals and visitors love.
After barbecue, what is it that the people of South Carolina crave? A good hotdog! Of course, they can be dolled up and will be amazing, but you know it's really good when you don't have to put anything out of the norm on it and can't help going back for more! So, here is a list of the best hotdog joints South Carolina has to offer and I can promise you that once you try them you will go back again and again.
1. Jack's Cosmic Dogs, Mt. Pleasant, SC
Voted Charleston's Best Hot Dog. You may have seen them on Food Network, Southern Living, The View, and many, many other places. It seems this kitschy little place is making HUGE headlines and it's no wonder. Their dogs are out of this world!
2. The Drive-In, Florence, SC
It used to be under the name of 301 Drive-In, but they moved and changed their name, but not their hot dogs or their chili recipe. It's still the same as ever and it's so good!
3. Spring Mart, Darlington, SC
It's a small store on Spring Street in Darlington. You probably wouldn't have looked twice, but you should! The hot dogs and chili are so good that the story goes, when the store was up for sale the new owner also bought the recipe for the chili!
4. Sandy's Famous Hot Dogs, Columbia, SC
Serving hot dogs since 1979. They must be doing something right here! They serve Black Angus hot dogs in the regular size and the whopping 1/4 pound! Yes, sir! 1/4 pound hot dogs! The bite on this hot dog is really nice too. You really get that nice snap!
5. Sam's Corner, Murrell's Inlet, SC
"The BEST footlong hot dog you can get." That sums up all the reviews you'll find for this place. They also have a few different locations too. So, there is absolutely no excuse to try them!
6. Skin's Hot Dogs, Greenville, SC
Their slogan reads, "Famous hot dog of the South". But, they aren't bragging...not really. They have been ranked #10 in the nation for their hot dogs and featured in numerous magazines such as Gourmet, Fortune, and Money.
7. Hub Diggity, Spartanburg, SC
This is a relatively new place considering that it just opened in 2010, but since then it's been busting out some really good dogs. From all the topping choices, bratwurst, and pretzel buns...they're leaving nothing on the table!
8. Johnny's Hot Dogs, Mt. Pleasant, SC
It's literally a hole in the wall...seriously, but they are making amazing hot dogs. They have 30+ toppings for you to choose from. But, beware, there's usually a line (which is a good thing right?), but it moves fast! These people aren't playing around!
9. Perfectly Franks, Summerville, SC
Another famous hot dog joint! This place has also been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! They make gourmet hot dogs inspired by famous people named Frank. I would tell you to try the Mac n' Cheese hot dog. The one above is the Frank Cuda dog and comes with blue cheese slaw, cheese sauce, homemade chili, bacon, and fried onion strips...now THAT'S a mouth full!
10. Joey Doggs Burgers, Surfside Beach, SC
Besides their awesome hot dogs they also serve fresh cut french fries! People talk about this place like it's heaven!
11. Ebenezer Grill, Rock Hill, SC
How can you not want to eat at a place where their slogan is, "Home of the Big Wienie"? But, seriously, the staff makes you feel at home when you walk into the door and the food is simply mouth-watering goodness!
Hot dogs may be simple fare, but they are not to be taken lightly here in South Carolina. Only the best will do and these are the best! You must try them; each and every place. There is no disappointment on this list folks, only completely satisfied and happy bellies!
