1. Galena

3. Woodstock

4. Nauvoo
Nauvoo means "to be beautiful" and it is beautiful, which is why it's being included on this list. An important part of Mormon history, Nauvoo still honors that history with reenactments and plenty of tours. You can even take a carriage ride through this adorable little town.
5. Fulton

In southeastern McHenry County, Crystal Lake offers a friendly-small town atmosphere and--yes--there is a lake. 7. Algonquin
