Fall is fast approaching, but we still have a few weeks left to enjoy the great weather and vibrant blue skies up above. Some book their summer vacation plans months in advance, but I always like to keep things interesting with an impromptu end-of-summer celebration. Luckily, there are plenty of Airbnb vacation rentals still available this summer all over the state. If you need a place to stay for a day, weekend or a week-long reset, look no further than these six rentals that will be a fun time indoors or out!
1. Custom Floating Cabin — East Dubuque
Located just off the Mississippi River, this floating home is parked at a marina, giving you unparalleled waterside access.
With three queen beds and a custom kitchen, the inside of this cabin is a cozy getaway bobbing on the water.
The best way to soak up the last remnants of summer is on the rooftop of the cabin, either lying on the hammock or hanging in the hot tub. There is a restaurant just steps away and the option to rent kayaks as well!
2. Historic Sheridan House — Kankakee
For the history buffs among us, staying in this laidback spot is the perfect way to get a little rest and relaxation.
You can take a stroll around the Historic Riverview neighborhood to check out the Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the area.
Alternatively, you can kick your feet up at home in the sunroom or sit outside by the outdoor firepit.
3. "Not so Normal" Oasis— Normal
Nothing screams summer like being able swim on your own timetable, in your own backyard.
This Airbnb is all about backyard relaxing, whether that's by the fire table, hot tub or swimming pool.
There's also a pool house with an open bar area that's ideal for hosting a gathering of family or friends.
4. Studio Cabin— Marion
A part of a system of cabins by the dam near Lake Egypt, this 650 square-foot cabin has cozy quarters indoors and incredible views outside the windows.
There are porches and fire pits around the cabins.
Walk down to the pond's edge and take the complementary paddle boards out on the water. Be sure to bring your own beach towels!
5. Beautiful Cottage — Urbana
If you are looking for a little elbow room to cap off the summer, this multi-acre rental has lots of land and beautiful interiors.
Outside, there is a fireplace, BBQ grill, hot tub and even a barrel sauna.
Designed to be a quiet getaway, this rental is ideal for families or small friend groups looking to squeeze in some quality time before the temperatures drop.
6. Cedar Cove Cabin — Elizabeth
Located a short drive away from downtown Galena, this spacious cabin had a gourmet kitchen for entertaining and small spaces to get some room to yourself.
There is a screened-in deck as well as a recently built two-acre pond just steps away.
