10 Things People Miss The Most About Wisconsin When They Leave
You never appreciate what you have till it’s gone, am I right guys? Seriously. Wisconsin has so much to offer, and we take it for granted. It really is the best state. Well, when you move away from this place, you really start to miss things that are unique to Wisconsin. Here are 10 of the things people miss the most when they leave.
Once you move away from Wisconsin, you realize cheese does not taste as good as fresh Wisconsin cheese. Grocery stores have nowhere near the same amount of different cheese offerings. And restaurants don't seem to give you quite as much cheese on things.
2. Friendly people
A synonym for Wisconsinite is nice. Seriously, I have met very few rude people in Wisconsin, and I have to chalk those incidents up to people having a bad day. That's not the case across the country, where most people are in too much of a hurry to say hi to you.
Wisconsin wins. The Packers dominate. Lots of cities deal with droughts lasting decades. We should be thankful that we are always relevant.
4. Beautiful countryside
So right now you might be in such a rush that you drive past scenes like this, but it's gorgeous, and don't you forget it. When you move to urban or even suburban areas, you will miss the calm that comes with being in rural settings.
5. Frozen Custard
No, soft-serve is not the same as frozen custard. Frozen custard is a delicious, rich, proper way to eat ice cream, and no one but Wisconsin seems to get the way to make it.
6. Fish fry
On Friday in Wisconsin, you are guaranteed to find a fish fry going on. But is this the case across the country? Heck no. No fish fry. Also no locally caught, fresh fish when you move to your desert retirement home. Think about that one.
7. Wisconsin has the best bars
You know that show Cheers, where everyone knows your name? I feel like that's what every bar in Wisconsin is like. It's really a warm, intimate experience and the drinks keep coming.
8. The good parts about winter
Okay, so winter in Wisconsin is not ideal. Okay, it really stinks sometimes. But when you move away to Arizona or wherever you go, you might miss winter. Wisconsin sure does look beautiful under a fresh blanket of snow. And don't forget how nice it is to do winter activities like sledding or cross-country skiing.
Once you move out of Wisconsin, people will look at you like you have a second head when you say "bubbler." They will not understand you when you say "Come here once." These are delightful ways of talking that only other Wisconsinites can appreciate.
10. Awesome produce
I feel like a kid in a candy shop during summer when all of the farmers' markets are going on. The produce is incredibly delicious, and often at a very reasonable price.
