Do you love waterfalls in Ohio? We've got some good news! You don't always have to hike off the beaten path to find a beautiful waterfall in Ohio. From urban waterfalls you pass along the sidewalk to Metropark waterfalls you can drive to, to hidden gems only locals know about, here are nine beautiful waterfalls hiding in plain sight in Ohio. 1. Mill Creek Falls (Cleveland)
Within the city limits of Cleveland you'll find this beautiful waterfall, (also called Cataract Falls of Mill Creek,) off of Warner Rd. If you're feeling up for a walk, you can also park at Garfield Park Reservation and walk about 1.5 miles to the falls. Have you visited Mill Creek Falls before?
2. Brandywine Falls (Sagamore Hills Township)
Cuyahoga Valley National Park in northeast Ohio is home to a breathtaking 65-foot waterfall that flows from Brandywine Creek. If you’d rather not take the 1.75-mile hike to the falls, you can drive to the upper and lower boardwalks, which are located just off of Brandywine Road. (A boardwalk option without stairs is also available.) Brandywine Falls is the tallest waterfall in Ohio, and it's a must visit!
3. Chagrin Falls (Chagrin Falls)
Perhaps one of the most easily accessible waterfalls on this list is Chagrin Falls, located in the town of (you guessed it), Chagrin Falls, Ohio. This charming town is actually named after the falls of the Chagrin River. Chagrin Falls flows in the heart of the town, which was established in 1845.
4. Hayden Falls (Dublin)
Hayden Falls Park in Dublin features a truly unique natural ecosystem, rare plants and animals and a 35-foot waterfall along the western shore of the Scioto River. It is located at 4326 Hayden Run Rd., Dublin, OH, 43017.
5. Lanterman’s Mill Falls (Youngstown)
You can find this enchanting, easy-access waterfall on the outskirts of Youngstown, right off of U.S. 62. The waterfall and mill is within Youngstown's Mill Creek Park, the second largest metropark in the U.S. (after Central Park in New York City), and it's a true gem amid the hustle and bustle of the city.
6. Paine Falls (Painesville)
Painesville is home to this two-tiered waterfall, which is easy to visit. Paine Falls Metropolitan Park is located at 5570 Paine Rd., Painesville, OH, 44077.
7. Clifton Mill Falls (Clifton)
This historic site of Clifton Mill features a vintage mill, beautiful waterfalls, a covered bridge, a 1940s-era gas station and a quaint American restaurant. It is located at 75 Water St., Clifton, OH, 45316.
8. East Falls (Elyria)
Within Cascade Park close to downtown Elyria, impressive waterfalls flow from both the East Branch and West Branch of the the Black River. Find the East Falls off of Lake Avenue behind the police station. (You can view the East Falls from the observation deck above or hike down the trail to the gorge for a closer look.)
9. West Falls (Elyria)
At the entrance of Cascade Park, these impressive falls flow. You can reach these falls via the trail from East Falls, or drive to the park and find them off of N. West River Street.
