As you drive down one unsuspecting road in Lake County, you'll pass over a little bridge that looks like any other.
As you drive over the bridge on Paine Road, you'll find yourself surrounded by the sounds of rushing water.
While you may not initially realize it, this bridge places you atop a tiered waterfall that's downright stunning.
This area was initially settled by Colonel Hendrick Paine, nephew of the founder of Painesville. Under his care, the little valley became known as Paine's Hollow.
Paine's Hollow began to decline just a few decades after its founding, as water power was no longer needed; however, Lake Metroparks made the area into a park in 1974.

As this video by Kevin Wienhold demonstrates, winter is a humbling time to see the waterfall. Its waters absolutely roar after a bit of melt, and its might is undeniable.
