This Mountain View Cabin Is the Perfect Home Base for South Carolina’s Best Hiking Trails
Close to several state parks and some of South Carolina's best hiking trails, this mountain view cabin is perfect.
This may be a divisive statement, but I think the best hiking trails in South Carolina are in the northwest corner. I’m a sucker for mountain views, and I’ll go to great lengths to enjoy a hike with a dreamy overlook. Since I don’t live in that corner of the state, I’m often searching for places to stay where I can spend my days hiking and not have to endure a long drive home. This mountain view cabin in South Carolina is the perfect home base to hit up the best hiking trails in the state. Let’s check it out:
Nature lovers will thoroughly enjoy a getaway at this mountain-view cabin in Cleveland, South Carolina. The 20-acre property will make you feel like you’re the only one around for miles, which is just what I’m looking for in a nature-driven getaway.
The two-bedroom, one-bath cabin has four beds and can comfortably sleep up to five guests. The primary bedroom is on the main floor, and the other beds can be accessed via the loft. This is a pet-friendly rental, just keep in mind that the cabin borders endless miles of protected lands, which means coyotes, bears, and snakes also live in the area (so keep your pup leashed).
The hilltop Airbnb is near Caesars Head State Park, Table Rock State Park, and the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area (just to name a few), and there are plenty of scenic hiking trails nearby.
The views from Caesars Head State Park will blow you away. The overlook trail is just 0.3 miles and gives you a breathtaking view practically from the parking lot.
Table Rock State Park is just a 10-minute drive away, and there are plenty of trails here, too. From strenuous hikes to moderately challenging treks, Table Rock has a trail for every skill set. The Pinnacle Lake Trail (aka the Lakeside Trail) is a two-mile loop trail that gives you both lake and mountain views (pictured above) and is one of the easier trails in the state park.
Speaking of aquatic adventures, there are plenty of waterfall trails nearby, too! Moonshine Falls in Caesars Head State Park is a great one to explore, and the three-mile round trip can easily be knocked out before lunch. For a longer trek (with a bigger waterfall finish), check out Raven Cliff Falls. Clocking in at roughly 400 feet, it’s the tallest waterfall in South Carolina!
Finally, you should absolutely make a detour to check out one of the most unique churches in South Carolina—Pretty Place Chapel. Officially named the Fred W. Symmes Chapel, this stunning spot is perched on the edge of a mountain nearly 3,000 feet above sea level with gorgeous views for miles. It’s only a 20-minute drive away from the cabin.
At the end of the day, return to the cabin and enjoy a night of stargazing! There is a deck you can set up shop, but for me, I’d be hanging out in that hammock and watching the Milky Way dance across the sky. There is a fire pit in case the nights get a little chilly.
