Pickens is an adorable small mountain town with a 2021 population of just over 3,300 people. It's a place where you can take a quick getaway while still having plenty of things to do in Pickens, from outdoor activities to shopping and places to eat. And there's the cutest treehouse you've got to check out that's a unique place to stay in Pickens, S.C., too. But first, let's explore one of the shopping spots a bit!
For all of our bargain shoppers, the Pickens Bargain Exchange Flea Market is a must-visit. Located on Walhalla Highway, it's been a staple in the Pickens community for years and is considered the area's largest "yard sale."
Wear comfy walking shoes as you peruse goods from a wide variety of vendors selling nearly anything you can imagine.
It opens from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays only. The earlier you arrive, the better the deals you are likely to find. Bring a flashlight, though, so you'll be able to see if you're coming early!
It's a great way to sell or find antiques or handmade jewelry. Many say this is the best flea market they've ever been to, including other states!
Now, if you're in Pickens for a weekend getaway, the Market at the Mill on Pumpkintown Highway in Pickens is a weekend flea market option. It's open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
After discovering treasures at the flea market, grab some lunch at Pumpkintown's Mountain Market and head to the treehouse cabin rental to relax and unwind in nature, with five acres of scenic mountain views and nature trails.
It's got a rustic chic vibe inside and will sleep four people. There's a small kitchen with a mini-fridge, microwave, and griddle.
