When it comes to the paranormal, Ohio doesn’t disappoint. One of the most haunted places in Ohio is Ohio University, which has several buildings that are believed to be haunted including Wilson Hall, Washington Hall, and Jefferson Hall as well as several residence hall rooms. Perhaps the most famous haunted attraction in Ohio is the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield. Formerly known as the Mansfield Reformatory, this historic prison is believed to be haunted with violent spirits of ruining inmates and guards from years past.

What are the most famous Ohio ghost stories?

One of the most famous ghost stories in Ohio is the Ceely Rose House, which was named after a teenage killer who once lived there. In 1896, Ceely Rose wanted to marry a boy she had a crush on, but her parents forbade it. Ceely poisoned her family by soaking flypaper in water and then pouring the poisonous water over some cottage cheese she served them. Her mother, father, and brother all died and she was committed to a mental institution where she stayed until she passed away at the age of 83.  Many people believe they have seen the ghost of Ceely in the house, and several others have heard disembodied voices when no one is around.
