Short Hikes In Northern California

February 01, 2021

What are some short hikes in Northern California that are good for families?

California is one big paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, and happily, even the littlest nature lovers can enjoy a day on the trails. We love Pleasants Ridge Trail; this beautiful hike is only 0.7 miles long — but it packs a lot into those few tenths of a mile! The trail boasts incredible views of lush green hills covered in trees that looks like a scene taken straight from a storybook. Another of our family-friendly favorites is Stout Memorial Grove Trail. You’ll find this magical trail hiding in the Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park. This hiking trail is less than a mile long, and the perfect way to explore this incredible forest. No matter what your age is, you can’t help but be in awe of the massive giants surrounding you. The short hike is perfect if you’re short on time but still want to experience the epic beauty of a redwood forest.

What are some waterfall hikes in Northern California?

Northern California is home to some of the most glorious waterfalls in the country! So of course, we designed an epic road trip to see the best of the best. Our Northern California Waterfall Day Trip clocks in at around 4 hours, and takes to you some of the most incredible waterfalls in the state, including Faery Falls, McCloud Falls, and Mossbrae Falls.

Where is the most scenic hike in Northern California?

Choosing the most scenic hike in Northern California is like choosing a favorite child — it’s just not possible! (Okay, so we are kind of partial to Stout Grove, which was #1 on the above list, and features some of the most magical redwoods in the state.) So we’re going to plead the fifth, and instead direct you to these 15 amazing hiking spots in Northern California.
