1. Spanish Mount Nature Trail - Edisto Beach State Park

Edisto Beach State Park was one of the most beautiful places I visited while living in South Carolina. Its beauty is incomparable to any other park in the state (that's at least my opinion). The dog-friendly, 3.8-mile Spanish Mount Nature Trail through the park is an easy one and will take about an hour. As a popular bird-watching trail, your pup will be interested in seeing birds and other wildlife while exploring. This trail also goes through wetlands and offers water views. You and your dog, who must remain on a leash, will love it!

2. Meggett County Park Red Trail - Meggett County Park, Meggett

Located within the 475-acre Meggett County Park is a 5.5-mile trail perfect for a dog with a lot of energy. The Meggett County Park Red Trail will take 1.5 hours to complete, and you shouldn't encounter too many people along the way—it's a bit of a hidden gem and quite peaceful! Due to its length, remember to take plenty of water for you and your pup, especially if it's a hot day.

3. Hutchinson House - Edisto Island

At only 0.4 miles in length, the trail at the Hutchinson House on Edisto Island is quick and easy. This is a great trail if you have older or smaller dogs that can't complete an intense hike but still need some exercise. You'll also get to see the historic Hutchinson House, which is the oldest house on the island.

4. Roxbury Lower Pond Loop - Roxbury Park

Another short and easy trail that's good for all dogs is the Roxbury Lower Pond Loop. It's only 0.7 miles long and offers beautiful views throughout Roxbury Park, with two ponds and a creek. Your four-legged best friend will love spotting birds and other wildlife as they explore and get some exercise.

5. Grove Plantation - ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge, Hollywood

Take a stroll along the 2.8-mile trail system at Grove Plantation within ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge, which is part of the more extensive ACE Basin system, and you're in for a treat! There's so much wildlife here between the birds and gators (please keep your dog on a leash!), wetland views, and an abundance of oak trees with Spanish moss. This is an unforgettable hike you can enjoy exploring with your pup.
