This Little-Known Lake Is Perfect For Easy Fishing, Swimming And Exploring In North Dakota

Fun fact: North Dakota is home to more than 400 lakes. Seriously. It may not be known for having miles and miles of shoreline as a landlocked state, but maybe it should be. Of all these lakes and ponds all over the state, most of 'em make for excellent recreation and outdoor opportunities; take, for instance, the little slice of paradise otherwise known as Spring Lake, which is located within Spring Lake Park in Williston. I love this lake - it's crystal clear, stunningly blue, and wonderfully clean. The folks who know it's here love it, too, and honestly - maybe I'm giving away a local secret by writing about it. But it's so pretty that you'd probably want to blab about it, too. This is one lake in North Dakota worthy of all the love in the world.

Welcome to Spring Lake Park!

With plenty of fun stuff to do within its boundaries, the adventure never ends - it only gets better.

Located in Bowman County, this lake has 41 acres of surface area and a wonderful three miles of shoreline.

It has an average depth of under five feet, making it pretty family-friendly. At its deepest, it's 15 and a half feet deep - just enough for boating, swimming, and other shenanigans.

Fishing and swimming are just a couple of the fun things to do at this particular lake in North Dakota.

There's also a walking trail, a dog park, volleyball courts, and lots of shelters for parties or picnics. It's a blast for every family member, no matter what they hope to get out of it.

It's open year-round and every season brings with it more reasons to visit.

In the spring and part of summer, wildflowers are abundant and absolutely splendid, making the lake more photogenic than it already is.

In the fall, the colors surrounding the water come ablaze with golds, reds and oranges.

And in the winter - well, you'll just have to see the wonderland it becomes yourself. It's beautiful... and so very North Dakota.

Whether you live here or you're just visiting, all 400 of North Dakota's lakes are worth exploring.

...and Spring Lake makes for a wonderful starting point.
