Many of us think of scenic overlooks and imagine pulling over to the side of the road to take in the view. But we forget that there are tons of trails here in New Hampshire leading to some seriously impressive sights.

The Green Mountain Tower Trail is a three-mile route that offers one of the best scenic overlooks in New Hampshire! On a clear day you can see for miles!

You'll start the journey at the turn around where the pavement of Cat Hole Road ends. The area is private property so be sure to leave the driveway open. Then, head past the gate and start your hike.

About one mile into the hike you'll arrive at a cell tower. Head right from here to continue along the trail.

The route, which will take about two hours depending on your pace, isn't hard to follow but does have some elevation gain. The trail is rated moderately challenging for this reason.

But the challenge is certainly worth it as you get closer to the summit!

The view is incredible and includes both Mount Sunapee and Mt. Ascutney in Vermont. And we love that it can be accessed year-round. For some of the most open vistas, visit in the winter when the leaves have fallen and there's more exposure.
