Moon Lake is a 2,300-acre oxbow lake located in the Moon Lake community of Coahoma County.

One of Mississippi’s largest natural lakes, it’s garnered a reputation as a fisherman’s paradise, attracting anglers from all over the region.

Fishing isn’t the only way to enjoy Moon Lake, though. As the centerpiece of Moon Lake Park, it’s easily accessible and a great place for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.

In addition to three public boat ramps, a fish cleaning station, and a covered picnic shelter, the park is home to a scenic overlook.

The park’s newest addition, the Moon Lake Scenic Overlook was built in 2019.

Accessing the overlook requires a short stroll along a paved walkway through a pecan grove.

After you make your way out of the grove, you’ll be met with a long, wooden boardwalk surrounded by cypress trees.

The boardwalk extends out over the waters of Moon Lake, treating visitors to pristine, unparalleled vistas.

And since the overlook is covered and outfitted with seating, you can comfortably soak in the scenery for as long as you’d like.
