When the weather starts really warming up in the spring, it's time to completely embrace the joys of fruit picking in Southern California. One of the best ways to experience spring is a spending a morning or afternoon out on a local farm for a fun-filled day of picking your own fruit. 1. South Coast Farms -- San Juan Capistrano
For fruit picking in Southern California, you can't do better than this wonderful farm! South Coast Farms is a Certified Organic farm, so you know you will always get the highest quality fruit and produce without any harmful chemicals. Throughout the season, this farm offers select U-pick days when you can have some fun at the farm and pick your own strawberries.

2. Kenny's Strawberry Farm -- Fallbrook
You can pick your own strawberries at this charming farm in San Diego County. Kenny's Strawberry Farm offers U-pick hours on Wednesday through Sunday from 10-6pm. Pick your own fresh, flavorful strawberries and enjoy tasting the season! Strawberry season runs from March to July, so make sure to head there at the height of the season to get the best selection of fruit.

3. Carlsbad Strawberry Company -- Carlsbad
For over 50 years, Carlsbad Strawberry Company has been growing and selling some of the finest and juiciest strawberries in Southern California. U-pick hours are 9-5 during strawberry season. The afternoons can get quite hot, so if you can visit during the early morning hours or late afternoon you can avoid the peak of the afternoon heat.

4. Tanaka Farms -- Irvine
It's strawberry season at Tanaka Farms and that means it's time to show up for a little fun on the farm when you pick your own strawberries. From weekend strawberry tours every Saturday and Sunday through the month of July to a festive strawberry festival happening April 28 and 29, there's plenty of fun for the whole family on this delightful U-pick farm in Southern California.

5. Windy Ridge Cherry Ranch -- Leona Valley
With cherry season a bit later than strawberry season, you may have to wait a few weeks to pick some cherries at this local pick your own farm, but we can assure you that the wait will be worth it. You'll find a delightful local farm with fun activities for the whole family, including U-pick cherries, in picturesque Leona Valley. Later in the year this farm also grows and sells pears, apples, peaches and plums which are in season from July through October.

6. Villa del Sol Sweet Cherry Farm -- Leona Valley
Not only does Villa Del Sol Cherry Farms offer some of the best cherries on earth, but they are also the largest cherry orchard in Southern California so they have tons of this divine fruit. Although each year varies depending on the weather, Leona Valley cherry season typically runs from May through July so you'll have a few weeks to wait before the cherry season begins.

7. Underwood Family Farms -- Moorpark
Located in Ventura County, Underwood Farms is a fun-filled farm where you can pick your own seasonal fruits and vegetables throughout the year. It's one of the best places to go fruit picking in Southern California. In addition to stocking up on freshly grown fruit, you can also plan your trip around many of the fun events they have scheduled on the farm throughout the year.
