This Hawaiian-Themed Restaurant In Illinois Will Transport You Straight To The Islands
It’s that time of year that you might be dreaming about a vacation to Hawaii. Forget that expensive plane trip and instead make plans to enjoy a night at this Hawaiian-themed restaurant and bar in River Grove, Illinois.

Hala Kahiki Tiki Bar in northeast Illinois got its start in 1952 in Chicago before moving to its current location in 1964. The restaurant is known for its tropical drinks and fabulous decor.
From the moment you step inside this Hawaiian-themed restaurant, you'll be transported to the isles of Honolulu, Maui, and Oahu. Everything from the chairs to the lights to the glassware to the art on the walls is Tiki.
There is even lovely outdoor seating for those interested in an authentic luau. Live music, dancers, and even more Hawaiian-themed decorations make this space a marvelous place to enjoy your food and drinks.
Speaking of which, the menu at this Hawaiian-themed restaurant consists of more than 130 tropical cocktails, some of which are unique to Hala Kahiki. You'll find everything from hot and cold drinks to sweet and tart drinks here.
According to Yelp reviews, the only food items available at this bar are chips and a Hawaiian-style salsa. On some Saturdays, there is a food truck on-site with additional eats, but any other outside food cannot be brought inside.
Shots, pina coladas, martinis, ice cream floats, cream drinks, chocolate drinks, coconut drinks, giant drinks for two, teas and coffee drinks, hot ciders, and beer abound. You can try all the tropical drinks of your dreams without ever having to leave the state.
Hala Kahiki Tiki Bar & Lounge is open Monday and Tuesday between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., Wednesday through Friday between 4 p.m. and 2 a.m., Saturday between 4 p.m. and 3 a.m., and Sunday between 4 p.m. and 2 a.m. Get more details about it on its website or Facebook page.
