The Haunted Bar That’s Been Around Since Before Montana Was Even A State

The Vu Villa in Butte, Montana, is a historic and haunted bar known for its pizza and ghostly apparitions.

If you consider yourself a history buff, you'll love exploring the old mining city of Butte. From Montana's oldest restaurant to the World Museum of Mining, you'll find all kinds of pieces of the past here. There's even a bar that's older than the state itself -- and, as you might suspect, it's haunted.

The Vu Villa is a celebrated landmark in Historic Uptown Butte.

It dates all the way back to 1886, when it was established as a saloon by Rocco Campana. Montana became a stat in 1889.

The Vu Villa was originally called The Parkway. The name was changed when the Vucurovich family bought it in 1967.

You'll find this charming eatery and bar at 521 W Park St.

These days, this spot is much better known for its pizza than its history.

The Vu serves lunch and dinner daily, and their pizzas are particularly loved.

When you visit, it's entirely possible you'll find more than long lines and mouthwatering meals.

Many employees and patrons alike have spotted a ghostly lady in the bar area.

Lest you automatically dismiss these rumors, here's an interesting tidbit: The ghostly woman appears as a full-on colorful apparition.

Some say she looks exactly like Pellegrina Campana, the wife of the original owner.

Employees have also reported hearing footsteps on the empty second floor, to it's safe to say something is amiss here.

If you'd like to see for yourself, the establishment opens daily at 11 a.m.
