The Green Turtle Inn has been serving the village of Islamorada in the Florida Keys for over 70 years.
The original property, then named the Rustic Inn, was known for providing locals with turtle steaks and gasoline. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in a devastating Category 5 hurricane that swept through Islamorada on Labor Day of 1935.
But then Sid and Roxy Siderius purchased and improved the property, reopening as The Green Turtle Inn in 1947.
Although the couple sold the business in 1966, their mark on the famous establishment has stood the test of time. Their names still adorn the walls and merchandise of the Green Turtle Inn to this day.
