What are some great easy hikes in Florida?

Did you know that there are more than 1,000 hiking trails in the state of Florida that are categorized as “easy”? It’s true – and each is definitely worth a try at least once (though admittedly that may take a while). We have many favorite hikes that just so happen to be easy, like the 0.8-mile-long gem that is the Anhinga Trail at Everglades National Park. That one is outrageously scenic and feautures landscapes that are just 100% Florida beauty. Another favorite easy hike in Florida is the Kolokee Loop Trail (Little Big Econ State Forest, five miles long) and the Virginia Key Trail is also absolutely amazing (four miles long, found at Virginia Key Park). Did we mention that we love easy hikes in Florida? Because we might be just a little obsessed.

What are some of the most popular hiking trails in Florida?

Let’s be real for a sec: Florida is a huge state. One of the largest, in fact, and as a result, it’s got a huge number of hiking trails to choose from – more than 2,000, to be exact. Some, however, tend to be crowd favorites and make it time and time again into every “best hikes in Florida” list (guilty); those hikes tend to be ones like the Black Bear Wilderness Area Trail, which is within the Wilderness of the same name and extends 7.3 miles. That one is rated as moderate and is quite scenic, with some truly brilliant wildflowers peppering the entire route. Another truly amazing, much-beloved hiking trail in Florida is the Wekiwa Springs Volksmarch Trail, at Wekiwa Springs State Park, which is rated as easy and is under a mile long, making it perfect for families with kids. Finally, check out the Anhinga Trail which, as we mentioned above, is 0.8 miles long and also quite easy. Want more ideas?
