When I hear of a natural trail near Sarasota, Florida, my mind immediately goes to Myakka River State Park. Walking that massive canopy bridge is one of my favorite hikes in the state! But there is another secret trail in Sarasota that deserves some attention – the Deer Prairie Creek Loop in Deer Prairie Creek Preserve. This preserve is named after the tributary of the Myakka River that flows right through the property! This expansive preserve spans approximately 6,400 acres, making it one of the largest natural areas in the county. It offers various ecosystems and outdoor activities for nature enthusiasts and hikers.
