This Easy, Under-A-Mile Trail Leads To Pam’s Grotto, One Of Arkansas’ Most Underrated Waterfalls
Your journey hasn’t stopped when you’ve reached the well-known Haw Creek Falls. Although this recreation area has everything you need for a weekend away, there’s even more to discover! Pam’s Grotto is an underrated side adventure to add to the trip. This gorgeous grotto doesn’t make the typical Arkansas waterfall bucket list but it’s well worth the hike!

The area is one of the waterfall oases located in the middle of the Ozark National Forest. In addition to the main feature Haw Creek Falls, the rec area also has nine no-reservations-needed campsites. Keep tabs on the current conditions by visiting the U.S. Forest Service website. Haw Creek is stunning but it's not the end of this adventure.

The hike is a manageable .8-mile out-and-back trail to Pam's Grotto. This trek is not an official trail but is well-worn. Most families find the hike accessible for children, though do keep an eye out for slippery rocks! It's best to research this area further and download a GPS-friendly map before setting off.

Pictures just don't give the 37-ft. waterfall justice! After following the bluffline along the trail, you'll hear the waterfall before spotting it. The waterfall is tucked away behind giant boulders but opens up into a lovely grotto.

Perch on the towering boulders in front of the falls or head into the rock shelter behind the spray.

After you've taken your pics and explored the area just head back the way you came. Add this side adventure before or after seeing Haw Creek Falls.
