We Checked Out The 13 Most Terrifying Places In Kansas And They’re Horrifying

Our state is home to miles and miles of endless farmland, but that doesn’t mean we’re free from scary stories. There are multiple places in Kansas that are haunted or just give off creepy vibes. Here are a few of our most terrifying places to add to your creepy bucket list. Have you seen them all?

The tale of flowerpot mountain is from around Medicine Lodge, and it involves settlers, angry Native Americans, and a hidden diary. The mountain is real, but is the story?

Jacob's well is a small but very deep pond at Big Basin Prairie Preserve where many people are rumored to have died. It only measures around 18 feet deep today, but stories tell of when it used to be bottomless.

Haunted Atchison's Sights and Sounds Facebook

Atchison has quite a few places that involve hauntings, but this park's story involves a tree where a woman once hung. Whether the stories are true, is still up for speculation, but witnesses have seen a ghostly female figure hanging from the branches of this tree in Molly's Hollow.

Though we definitely know the Bloody Benders murders happened, the area is still very creepy to tour. There's a Bender exhibit at the Cherryvale Museum, the town where the murders took place.

Historic Wolf Hotel

Underneath the town of Ellinwood is a hidden town, where shops used to sell beer, sex, and even haircuts down where no one could find them. Much of it is closed to the public, but the parts you can tour are a creepy look at history.

Wax figures are creepy enough on their own, but these old figures of famous gunfighters (or their severed heads) are doubly so. Tour this museum at the back of the Teachers Hall of Fame, but you've been warned about the potential shivers down your spine.

The cement factory in the ghost town of LeHunt is haunted by a spirit named Bohr, or so we're told. He was a man who died after falling into a vat of concrete, and his body was never discovered. As a tribute, there is a pick and wheelbarrow sticking out of the wall forever, or at least until the building finally crumbles.

Less scary than creepy and unexpected, this bridge troll hangs out by the Keeper of the Plains, underneath the floor where it crouches, ready to scare anyone who isn't paying attention. Good thing it's a statue, right?
