Did You Know Kansas Is Home To The World's Largest Ball Of Twine?

Did You Know Kansas Is Home To The World's Largest Ball Of Twine?

It’s one of the most recognizable landmarks in Kansas. It’s a popular, beautifully laid out area full of various dining and shopping options.

Now we’ll show you some photos of the Wichita Water Walk, but from a different perspective. This location is probably not quite as familiar to you: it’s the Wichita Troll, a hidden troll in Kansas that lives underground.

Believe it or not, this hidden troll in Kansas lives under the streets of the Wichita Water Walk… In fact, if you have ever visited the Keeper of the Plains, there is a pretty good chance that you walked right over him without realizing it.

Meet the Wichita Troll: a seven-foot tall goblin who lurks beneath the streets of downtown. He quietly observes the world above overhead while most people don’t even know that he’s there.

Though he may look terrifying, this Troll has no interest in gobbling you up. Au contraire, this green, 200-pound sculpture was created by local artist Connie Ernatt back in 2007. The hopes were that he would improve the looks of an overflow area near the old Westar Energy Plant. Since then, the discreet monster has been a mere hidden gem, one of the little-known secret places in Kansas.

You can find him underneath a grate near a sign in the park. He sits just behind Westar, in the Veteran’s Memorial Park, facing Exploration Place.

Have you seen the Wichita Troll yourself? Or is the first you’ve heard of him? Let us know in the comments! We love to hear about secret places in Kansas.
