Shepherdstown Is Allegedly One Of West Virginia’s Most Haunted Small Towns
Whether it’s a haunted tunnel, a creepy abandoned playground, or an ominous penitentiary, West Virginians have no problem exploring a paranormal site. If you’re really looking for a thrill, no place beats Shepherdstown. This tiny town is older than West Virginia itself, and some say it’s the most haunted place in America. Are you ready to explore these haunted hot spots? These places will send shivers down your spine.

This small town only has a population of about 1,734 people, but there's no shortage of ghostly visitors passing through.

This fascinating place sits inside the gorgeous Entler Hotel. Here, you'll learn all about the history of this one-of-a-kind town. Visit the top floor to see a replica of an old hotel room. This is where the museum's resident ghost, William Payton Smith, is known to spend the night.

In addition to making delectable pastries and desserts, Shepherdstown Sweet Shop and Bakery is known for its spectral visitor. Employees and visitors often report feeling the ghost of "The Colonel" brush by them as they walk through the shop. You may even hear him whisper in your ear. This old building was used as a hospital during the Battle of Antietam, so it's no surprise this ghostly soldier lingers about.

Shepherd University's McMurran Hall was also used as hospital during the Civil War, and many spirits continue to wander the grounds. Students have reported seeing a shadowing figure standing by the windows.

Over 100 Confederate soldiers are buried within these grounds. If you come by late at night, you may even spot one.

Listen to bloody tales of the Civil War, explore historic homes, and search for paranormal activity. This ghost adventure will definitely rev up your adrenaline.
