With a population of just 70 people, Clinchport is one of the smallest municipalities in Virginia. The town was originally incorporated in 1894 as a town for loggers, who would transport the logs — sometimes, by floating on top of them — all the way down to Chattanooga.
Many of the area's swinging bridges are still maintained by the state. Visitors enjoy crossing these swinging bridges while experiencing a fascinating perspective of the water.
