It's an absolutely dreamy place to spend an afternoon taking a stroll, hiking, horseback riding, or walking your dog through more than 70 miles of trails across 2,100 acres. It's a popular forest, drawing both locals and tourists in droves for recreation while surrounded by beautiful scenery. But Aiken, the hometown of this stunning park, is also worth visiting. Although it's considered the gateway of Hitchcock Woods, Aiken, South Carolina, should not be overlooked.

For some time out in nature, visit the 1,067-acre Aiken State Park for a hike, or if you want to, rent a campsite for the night. You should also explore the 14-acre Hopeland Gardens, home to 100-year-old live oak trees, wetlands, fountains, and more.
