You Could Spend Forever Exploring This New Hampshire City, But We’ll Settle For A Weekend

Concord, New Hampshire offers a perfect weekend getaway with its vibrant downtown, historic sites, and outdoor activities.

Several years ago, I moved to Concord, New Hampshire from Massachusetts so I could be closer to the great outdoors. I also chose Concord because of its great central location to the mountains and ocean, as well as its vibrant downtown, sense of community, and rich history. Rest assured when I tell you that if you are looking for a weekend getaway in NH, the capital city has much to offer.

While it is a major city, you won't find an urban landscape full of skyscrapers here. Concord very much retains a small-town character and feel.

Concord's downtown is extremely walkable and is lined with small, independent businesses. You can pretty much find anything along Main Street.

A visit to the State House should be on the to-do list. This seat of government was built between 1816 and 1819.

A walking tour of downtown Concord will bring you to many of the city's historic buildings.

The Hotel Concord is the perfect place for an overnight stay. This boutique hotel features views of the city from all of its rooms.

Concord is graced with over 80 miles of hiking trails. A short hike up Jerry Hill provides excellent views for little effort.

Downtown offers many varied options for dining. Revival Kitchen & Bar is a farm-to-table eatery with a menu featuring local ingredients.

If you happen to be in the city during June, you can experience the Market Days Festival. Main Street shuts down and turns into the city's biggest community event.
