This Middle-Of-Nowhere Texas Cafe Has The Best Home Cooking On Route 66
Next time you find yourself on Route 66 with a hankering for some home-cooked food, look no further than Midpoint Cafe. Located exactly halfway along the historic highway, this middle-of-nowhere restaurant is a bucket list destination in more ways than one.
Here in Adrian, the slogan is "when you're here, you're halfway there." That's because the town is located exactly halfway along historic Route 66, hence the name for this quirky, middle-of-nowhere roadside cafe.
Step through the door and travel back in time to the days of Friday night soda fountain hangouts. The decor is undoubtedly antiquated, but it's in a good way that brings back fond childhood memories.
Generous portions of standard diner fare are always served with a smile. This massive spread of runny eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and toast provides road trip fuel guaranteed to quell the beast in your stomach for hours.
Midpoint doesn't mess around when it comes to burgers. The patties are huge, but make no mistake - flavor isn't compromised one bit in favor of size. Gooey cheese, crisp onion, lettuce, + tomato, and a fluffy bun make each bite even better than the last.
Several different flavors of pie are baked fresh each morning. Pecan, apple, coconut creme, and even peanut butter banana make the perfect ending to your meal - especially when accompanied by a steamy cup of coffee. Don't even think about leaving without a slice!
A gift shop is also located inside the cafe, so stock up on some Route 66 memorabilia before hitting the road. Vintage signs, T-shirts, coffee mugs, and pretty much any other kitschy souvenir imaginable serve as reminders of your visit.
