Why This Town Is the Perfect Base for Raymond B. Winter State Park
Mifflinburg is located in Pennsylvania's heartland, surrounded by sprawling wilderness. Only slightly to its west, about 15 minutes away, you'll find Raymond B. Winter State Park, a 695-acre park featuring some great hiking trails and overlooks that make for an amazing day trip.

Make sure to pay a visit to the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum, a historic exhibit featuring the town's favorite old-school method of transportation!
Being surrounded by nature, you'll find some amazing hidden gems. Mifflinburg is also home to the smallest state park in Pennsylvania, the charming Sand Bridge State Park. You won't even have to leave the town center to visit the Hassenplug Covered Bridge, a short-but-sweet ride through the classic Pennsylvania landmark.
What to Know Before You Go
Mifflinburg is usually a peaceful town to spend a day or two, but there are two times in particular that it becomes quite the happening place! The town holds the best traditional Oktoberfest in the Keystone State, with plenty of beer and brats available. And during the holiday season, the town hosts a traditional German Christkindlmarkt, a Christmas Market that's an amazing place to shop for specialty holiday goods. No matter which of these events you attend, the town will be full of music, dancing, and festivity.
Where to Stay Nearby
Mifflinburg doesn't have any traditional hotels in town, so your best bet for accommodations is camping in the nearby state parks. Trailers, tents, and motor homes are allowed, and the park also has a limited number of accommodations on site. However, if you want a one-of-a-kind stay, you can check into the luxury suites at Rusty Rail Brewing Company, one of the town's most popular restaurants. Right overhead, you'll find a limited number of hotel rooms offering you a great view of the town.
