Colditz Cove State Natural Area hides Northrup Falls, a stunning water formation that’s not only a natural wonder but accessible by way of a low-trafficked hiking loop. If you’re looking to get out of the city for a day out and about, then you simply must make your way to this Jamestown gem.
Northrup Falls can be found in the heart of Colditz Cove State Natural Area, and it's a true hidden gem. Most folks, even most locals, don't know about it.
The 60-foot-waterfall is not often visited, and in fact remains one of the lesser known falls in the Middle Tennessee area. It's fairly isolated, and provides the best kind of respite from the craziness of life's day-to-day.

The pool below the falls is a crystal clear blue. It's so stunning and pure, you'd almost think it's not quite real.

You can access Northrup Falls by way of a 1.3-mile, low-key hiking loop that not only takes you behind the falls, but downstream and back up to the trail's starting point. It's a fairly accessible loop for folks of all ages.

We'd highly recommend bringing a camera. The waterfall is beautiful, but so are the limestone formations that dot the wetlands. It gets shady and cool at the falls, so bring a light jacket if you're easily chilled.
Breathtaking, isn't it? Make sure to exercise caution if its rained recently. There are parts of the trail that remain quite rocky, and they tend to get slippery when wet.
