There’s nothing more beautiful than a few hours spent in the heart of Tennessee’s natural spaces and places. The state is rife with stunning state parks and protected natural areas, one of which is the Short Springs State Natural Area. Located in Coffee County, this Volunteer State gem remains one of the most underrated parks in the state. Take a look at its stunning natural expanse below, and perhaps go visit for yourself. There’s nothing like a hike in the wilderness to clear the mind and quiet the heart.

Short Springs is made up of 420-acres in the heart of Tennessee's Coffee County and is located just a few miles from Tullahoma. It's known as one of the most beautiful places to hike in the state as well as the location of some of the most beautiful patches of wildflowers.

Wander the park for a while and you'll see everything from flowered meadows to lush forests and craggy ravines. Of course, it's the springs and waterfalls that add a bit of whimsy to the entire experience.

The natural area is long been lauded for its biological diversity and differentiated topography. You'll find all different species of plants and animals living in and around the natural area.

Machine Falls is perhaps the most popular spot to visit. It's easily accessed by way of Machine Falls Loop Trail, which is a roughly four-mile trail that's used fo thinking, running, and bird watching. It's accessible all year and is considered a moderate trail.

Dogs are allowed in the park as long as they're kept on a leash. Of course, if you'd rather take a less-trafficked trail, there are several smaller trails in the park with their own fabulous views.

You'll lose all sense of time as you traverse the spectacular natural beauty of the Short Spring State Natural Area. The natural space is maintained by the state and has been a designated Tennessee natural area since 1994.
