The beauty of Tennessee is both expansive and well-known but tucked away on the historic Natchez-Trace Parkway in Hickman County you’ll find one of the state’s least-known waterfalls. Jackson Falls is located just a hot second from Nashville, and the short hike to the falls is a great way to experience the beauty of Tennesee without traveling too far. You can find Jackson Falls in the heart of the Tennessee countryside in Jackson, Tennessee. It is located in the Duck River Valley, one of the least visited yet most beautiful natural spots in the state. Just take a look at that green countryside!
You will have to hike to the falls, but the entirety of the out-and-back route is less than half a mile. With a subtle elevation gain of 49 feet, you won’t have to worry about any strong inclines, though there is a fairly steep concrete trail that will lead you to the base of the falls.
Here you can see the end of the trail to the falls. There is a handrail that provides support, though you will want to keep an eye on where you’re walking. The spring and summer tend to be wet, and you may have to deal with ice during the chillier months.
Since the paved trail is fairly short, the hike to Jackson Falls is a great option for families with kids. There are opportunities to explore the area along the base of the water as well, though you will want to make sure you wear the proper footwear to stay safe.
