This New Hampshire Airbnb Is Like Stepping onto the Set of a Friday the 13th Movie
Do you enjoy staying at spooky vacation rentals? If so, you will definitely want to check out this creepy cabin rental in the woods of NH.
Every now and then, I get an urge to curl up on the couch and spend a night watching a horror movie. My favorites are the classic '80s movies from my childhood, which often depict serial killers stalking innocent victims at sleep-away camps and secluded cabins in the woods. (Sorry not sorry!)
I love scary things and usually don't shy away from taking part in a spooky adventure. I’ve previously spent the night in several haunted Massachusetts hotels, including the Lizzie Borden House in Fall River and Concord’s Colonial Inn in Concord, but have yet to brave an overnight at a creepy cabin.
However, if I ever summon up the courage to do so, I plan to head to the Magical & Spooky Mirror House, an off-the-grid rental in Warren, New Hampshire that reminds me of the set of a Friday the 13th film.
From the outside, this remote Airbnb looks anything but terrifying. In fact, the exterior is pretty adorable. The tiny home is set on a hill on 30 acres of remote property. It is surrounded by woods and has several scenic walking paths on-site. But, when you step inside, you are in for an unexpected surprise.
The walls of this home are decorated with mirrors of every size and shape. I’m not sure exactly how many there are, but they are EVERYWHERE! I hope you are having a good hair day when you visit, because you will see your reflection nonstop. And there is even more creepy decor to discover. Skulls, statues, black cats, and miniature haunted houses are just a few of the unusual items you will encounter.
Once you grow accustomed to the endless mirrors and eerie statues, you will grow to realize that the rental is quite magical. The interior is additionally decorated with several hanging crystals that produce magical rainbow effects throughout the day. I wouldn’t think that skulls and rainbows would mix well, but somehow the combo works in this unusual setting.
As long as you don’t mind roughing it a bit, The Mirror House is a great place to unplug. The cabin has no electricity or internet, and minimal cell service. Guests are encouraged to bring their own flashlights, firewood, and camp stoves. And one more thing, there is also no inside plumbing. But not to worry, you will find an outhouse and a seasonal shared shower on the property.
The Magical & Spooky Mirror House can house up to two guests. There is a comfortable queen-sized bed in the home’s eccentrically decorated bedroom. Despite the cabin’s creepy decor, most guests report experiencing a peaceful and cozy stay. Some even plan a return trip.
Be aware that in order to reach this secluded Airbnb, you will have to walk about a quarter of a mile through the woods. This can be a bit of a tricky hike in the wintertime, but the owners will provide you with snowshoes and sleds to transport your luggage upon request. The cabin is insulated and has a propane stove for heat.
No matter if you choose to visit on Friday the 13th, Halloween, or just some random night, you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience. A getaway to the Magical & Spooky Mirror House can be booked through the home’s Airbnb link. Have you ever stayed in a haunted or spooky rental home? If so, we would love to hear all about your experience. For even more creepy stays in New Hampshire, be sure to visit these eight local haunted hotels.
