What’s Old Is New Again At The Freshly Re-Opened Andrus Hotel In Montana

The Andrus Hotel in Dillon, Montana, has reopened after extensive renovations, blending modern amenities with historic charm.

Dillon is a charming little city in Beaverhead County — and quite frankly, we don't think it gets enough credit. But if you've ever contemplated checking this old gold mining town out, you now have one more good reason to go. Recently, the historic Andrus Hotel, which first opened to the public in 1917, has re-emerged after being closed for years. And despite its century-old building, the new place is nice and modern.

The Andrus Hotel is located at 33 South Idaho Street in Dillon.

This is in the heart of Dillon's Old Town district, so it's in a perfect spot.

The hotel certainly looked a lot different in 1917, although some of the original details remain.

This is a Renaissance Revival-style hotel, so the architecture is very unique.

The hotel was originally constructed by successful sheep rancher Harry Andrus who thought Dillon's first railroad hotel, the Hotel Metlen, could use some competition.

He hired Jesse Warren, a renowned Seattle architect, to design a modern and elegant Renaissance Revival style building. Since Andrus had made his money in Beaverhead County, he spared no expense in making it a beautiful place for his guests to enjoy.

These days, the building has a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.

And while everything is shiny and new, you'll still see reminders that it has a long history.

The Andrus Hotel has 12 rooms and suites, which are more like small apartments.

The suites are all located on the penthouse level of the hotel and are only accessible by hotel guests.

The suites are all named after local counties and famous spots.

The Gallatin Suite, Madison Suite, and the Yellowstone Suite are all popular picks.

The hotel re-opened to the public in July after extensive renovations, and they are ready to welcome guests again.

The building is spotless, the low number of rooms helps to minimize guest contact, and we all known social distancing is second nature in Montana.
