At risk of sounding "basic," I'm just going to come out and say it: fall is my favorite season. I think pumpkin spice is overrated, but crisp air, cozy sweaters, and changing leaves? Sign me up. One of my favorite fall activities in Arkansas is escaping to a cabin nestled amid warm autumn foliage, and the Atalanta Rockhouse is just the place. This quaint cottage in Rogers, Arkansas, is in the heart of downtown, but it still offers a quiet getaway surrounded by trees that turn brilliant shades of gold, red, orange, and brown.

This spacious cabin looks like something out of a storybook in the fall. Just 10 minutes from Beaver Lake and directly adjacent to Lake Atalanta Park, the cabin is surrounded by trees that put on a spectacular show during autumn. The home was built in the 1950s, but it has been modernized to include updated appliances and a bright, open, and airy layout that makes it easy to relax. Despite the extensive renovations, the home still offers a historic charm perfect for cozying up while the leaves fall outside. 

The cabin accommodates up to eight guests, featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each of the bedrooms has one bed, either a queen or a double, and there’s a sofa bed and a couch in the living room for two additional people. The open floor plan incorporates elements of modern farmhouse design, such as wooden beams overhead, and large windows let in plenty of natural light and look out on the wooded landscape. There’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out while still spending time together, whether that looks like watching a show or movie, playing board games, or escaping into different worlds (books or phones — no judgment here!) in each other’s company.

A fully equipped kitchen offers everything you need to cook meals, and there’s a gas grill on the balcony. Even if your group isn’t the cookout type, you’ll still want to spend time on the deck. Nestled in the treetops, it gives you a front-row seat to the stunning fall colors. Lounge on the patio furniture and sip your morning coffee or tea as the birds chirp their good mornings. Or, watch the sunset through the trees, its fiery glow making the leaves appear even more brilliant. 

Adirondack chairs surround a fire pit in the backyard, and it's the perfect hangout spot for those cool autumn nights. Roast marshmallows and tell stories while admiring the fallen leaves blanketing the ground. If you're the outdoorsy type, the property is surrounded by world-class mountain biking trails that are perfect for enjoying the seasonal splendor. Taking a stroll through downtown Rogers to check out the charming shops and restaurants is also a great fall activity.
