For those who believe in paranormal activity, a visit to the small town of Belton, South Carolina, is an absolute must. Located on the eastern side of Anderson County, Belton was once the home of a bustling passenger and cargo train business. Today, the historic train depot is used for other things (mainly the Belton Area Museum Association).

It's also, according to experts in the field of paranormal activity, the home of no less then eight permanent resident ghosts.

Built in 1910, the present-day Belton Depot actually displaced an earlier depot.

Seen in this photograph dated 1909, is the previous depot. The exact construction date of the earlier buildings used for the passenger and cargo services is unknown. What is known - and widely respected locally as fact - is that eight ghosts are forever stuck in limbo inside the present-day depot.

In 2013 and again in 2014, two different paranormal research teams locked down overnight inside the Belton Depot and what they captured in audio, video, and in photographs is enough to make your hair stand on end.

Among the most disturbing was audio containing the voice of a disembodied person who distinctly mentions shock therapy.

As for the other evidence gathered from the two crews, many of the ghosts were simply pranksters, like the sounds of a singing porter or the tinkling bells that may have been associated with a luggage carrier. Investigators also discovered a disappointed spinster that resides within the depot.
Each year at Halloween, the Belton Area Museum Association's Halloween festivities often include a walking ghost tour of the town.

It's unclear if the event will take place in 2020 due to the pandemic, but it remains on their calendar (so far) for October 29th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
