History highlights the state as an instrumental part of the two major wars fought on what is now American soil, and our food is surpassed by none. But as wonderful as these things are, there are three things that should be added to the list. From this point forward, add these things to the list of three things South Carolina is known for:

Automotive manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes, and Volvo all have manufacturing facilities in the state. According to the South Carolina Department of Commerce, South Carolina is the #1 automobile exporter in the country. That's tremendous and deserves recognition!

Skipping 2020 figures due to the pandemic and looking back to 2019, Myrtle Beach tourism drew in just over 20 million visitors for the year. In comparison, Charleston, Greenville, and Columbia combined barely broke the 17 million mark.

In 2012, America added the forest to our list of national parks and it's about time the rest of the country experienced the magic of Congaree National Park.
