There's nothing more enjoyable after a wintertime excursion than a steaming mug of hot cocoa. Except, of course, if this warm drink is topped with a torched, homemade marshmallow! This is the mantra of 1927 S'mores Company in Portland, Oregon: to deliver hot, sticky-sweet treats sure to warm you from the inside out.
Here in Oregon, gathering 'round a campfire isn't just an activity; it's a way of life.
It's a way to connect with each other in the great outdoors, while enjoying great company... and great treats!
And while roasting hot dogs is certainly fun, there's nothing quite like a hot, fire-scorched marshmallow. Warm and gooey, smoky and sweet, these fluffy pillows are delicious on their own, as a topping on hot cocoa, or, our personal favorite: sandwiched between two spicy-sweet graham crackers and melted chocolate.
This simple pleasure is the mission of 1927 S'mores Company in Portland, Oregon.
This gourmet s'mores store in Portland opened as a curbside cart in 2015, moving into a brick-and-mortar building in 2019. They specialize in scratch-made, torch-fired marshmallows... and there's nowhere else quite like 1927 S'mores Company in the city!
1927 S'mores Company is named, of course, after the Girl Scouts' now-iconic recipe.
In 1927, a recipe for "Some More" was published in "Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts."
The original recipe called for 16 graham crackers, eight bars of plain chocolate, and 16 marshmallows. It's blessedly simple, yet oh-so-good!
1927 S'mores Company takes this recipe to the next level, torching their homemade vanilla bean marshmallows to sticky-sweet, smoky, caramelized perfection.
These marshmallows can be enjoyed in a myriad of ways: purchase one of the shop's best-selling s'mores kits for your very own cozy campfire date night!
Or stop into the store for a house-made s'more or cozy cup of marshmallow-topped cocoa. You can't go wrong with any of these options!
So tell us: do you prefer your hot cocoa topped with a marshmallow, or au natural? And if you're into the 'mallows, do you like them blonde or scorched? Whatever you're into, a visit to 1927 S'mores Company is definitely in order! (Or, smorder... okay, we'll show ourselves out now.)
