The Most Remote Lake In Oklahoma Is Also The Most Peaceful

Spend a day or weekend in the Wichita Mountains and enjoy one of the most serene places in Oklahoma. Within the mountains, you’ll find a breathtaking lake that’s perfect for fishing or kayaking. Quanah Parker Lake is a reservoir with only three miles of shoreline but it’s one of the most peaceful places you’ll ever find.

Welcome to Quanah Parker Lake! This majestic lake might be small but it packs a mighty big impression. No motorized boats are allowed so this place is very chill and relaxed.

It is located inside the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and is surrounded by mountains on all sides. It's a very popular fishing spot, so be sure and bring your rod.

At the end of the lake is a dam that was built in the 1930s and the architecture is just beautiful.

You can drive right up to the lake, so if you have a kayak it's very convenient to drive right up and put it in the water.

There is also a fun bridge to hike over, plus there are plenty of hiking trails in the area if you want to take a hike.

The lake is not the best option for swimming as there are water snakes and snapping turtles, so please use caution.
