Non-Ohioans might be scratching their heads at the last one, but we here in the Buckeye State know that you simply must end a meal at Skyline Chili with a York Peppermint Pattie. It’s just the facts!

An Ohio institution, Skyline Chili was started in 1949 when a man by the name of Nicholas Lambrinides decided to share some of his mother's delicious Greek recipes. Lambrinides was inspired by his mother's creative cooking and opened his very own restaurant in Cincinnati atop Price Hill.
Today, Skyline Chili is ubiquitous with a reputation that precedes it and a dish that's become synonymous with it: the 3-Way, a plate of spaghetti piled high with a top-secret chili recipe that's covered in freshly-shredded cheddar cheese.
After diving into such cheese-topped decadence, something light, sweet, and refreshing is in order... especially if you're visiting Skyline with a date!
Enter: the York Peppermint Pattie. Since the beginning, there’s been a tradition of eating one of these chocolate-dipped, peppermint-creme-filled candies after a bowl of Cincinnati chili to quell the spices and freshen your breath. It's rumored that the Clifton Skyline Chili parlor goes through 1,600 peppermint patties a week!
This foodie ritual is such a part of the very culture and identity of Skyline Chili, in fact, that the York Peppermint Pattie even has a star spot on the menu!
Of course, this isn't the only "weird" food pairing Ohioans enjoy at Skyline... hot-sauce-topped oyster cracker, anyone? (You'll definitely need a peppermint pattie after this combo!)
