Kicking off our tour of the best day trips in Ohio, consider embracing the chilly season with a visit to one of the most epic winter attractions in Ohio. Mad River Mountain in Zanesfield, Ohio features all the wintertime fun you could possibly want—and then some. It’s home to the largest snow tubing park in the state and it’s a must-visit. There's nothing better than spending all day in a massive book store in the dead of winter. Tucked away in central Ohio’s charming German Village, you’ll find the most enchanting bookstore that’s a seemingly never-ending maze of classic literature, modern day stories and a plethora of knowledge that book lovers only dream of. There’s one state park hiding in northeast Ohio that’s unlike any other. In addition to beautiful hiking trails, it also features a farm, historic home and restaurant. Tucked away in a shopping plaza in Gahanna, there’s a little-known waterfall park that features the perfect blend of adventure and modernity. June - Land of Illusion Aqua Adventures (Middletown)
One of Ohio’s newest water parks, this picturesque beach also features a massive inflatable obstacle course that’s insanely fun. Other activities here include horseshoes, corn hole, paddle boarding and more. Land of Illusion Adventure Park is all sorts of fun! July - Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve (Rockbridge)
Separate from (but close to) the beloved Hocking Hills State Park, this underrated nature preserve is just as inspiring as other popular hiking areas in the region, such as Old Man's Cave. You'll encounter several small waterfalls, steep cliffs and deep green everywhere you turn. This massive museum tells the story of Ohio. You'll learn about everything from the discovery of ancient Indian cultures and artifacts to the history of farming and public transportation. High Voltage Indoor Karting in Medina features Ohio’s only indoor and outdoor track. You’ll zoom in and out in electric, high speed go-karts that are insanely fun to drive. Locals and visitors alike love unusual landmarks like the Temple of Tolerance, and roadside attractions like Cornhenge. The latter attraction is a field of giant corn statues that’s truly and uniquely an Ohio classic.
