While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. Would you believe the number one most dangerous place to hang out after dark is the same city where Pixar, Peet's Coffee and Jamba Juice call home?

The port city of Oakland is getting more expensive to live in. People who are being priced out of San Francisco are moving here--but it's still not doing much to bring down crime yet. Anyone who lives in this part of the state knows that Oakland is NOT where you want to be after dark.

Would you ever believe one of the most dangerous places to be after dark would be in Humboldt County? For those of you who believe you're in the "true northern" part of our state--you made the list. Congrats!

Table Rock is the image here and doesn't look the least bit scary. But, the town of Oroville in Butte County is on this list for a reason.

Poor Stockton....this city has had a bad reputation for a lot of things, not just crime. But, since we're talking about crime we MUST bring up Stockton. It's one of the most dangerous places around here. You know. Your friends know it. Admit it.

Another port city that made the list. What is it about water and crime anyway? Richmond made the top 10 - are you even surprised? I'm not.

In a town of less than 5,000 people and where the rainfall averages about 32 inches a year, this town made the top 10. The county seat of Tuolumne is a place you don't want to be at sundown.

Trinidad may just have one of the coolest northern locations, but this coastal town also has a HUGE amount of crime. Lock your doors around this town. It made our list of where NOT to go after dark.

Don't let the welcome mat fool ya, this place has its fair share of crime going on. Don't come here after dark. We mean it. Don't.

You did it! You made the top 10, Eureka. I've heard so many folks up your way thinking we'd forgotten to include "northern" California - but we do, we really do. You made it and now we don't want to be there after dark.
Every city has a little bit of crime, but these are some of the worst. Which ones do you think are just as bad?
