The Small Town In New Jersey That Transforms Into A Magical Christmas Wonderland
Thanksgiving is just a day away but Christmas season is already in full swing. You’re going to want to start planning now to make the most of the holiday magic. While you’ll find events all over New Jersey, one town in particular goes all out. It’s not Cape May, it’s Christmastown, USA.

There are seemingly endless opportunities to tour the stunning Victorian homes and hotels, all decked out with Christmas lights. Special candlelight tours include carolers and hospitality centers with hot cocoa and sweet treats.

Learn about Christmas traditions, take in classic Victorian decorations, see special exhibits and watch Louisa May Alcott’s Christmas at East Lynne Theater Company.

Running from December 3-5, the highlight of this event is a giant feast. You'll also enjoy workshops on topics including "The Americanization of Santa: From Saint to Claus" and "The Influence of Prince Albert on Victorian Christmas."

The West Cape May Christmas Parade always takes place the first Saturday of December. There are tree lightings for for Cape May City, Congress Hall, and the Emlen Physick Estate. In addition, many restaurants offer breakfast with Santa.

There's a vendor village with all kinds of gifts (and over 20 vendors), Mrs. Claus' kitchen, a train, carousel, Santa's Workshop with storytime and complimentary crafts, and a performance of A Christmas Carol: The Radio Show by David Alberts
With Cape May Stage in Congress Hall’s Harrison Room.

There are trolley rides with Santa for the little ones and ghosts of Christmas past trolley rides for adults. The holiday lights trolley tours (which you'll learn more about in an upcoming post) are perfect for everyone!
I suppose my favorite thing about Cape May at Christmastime is that it almost takes you back in time. I love how it’s absolutely overflowing with Victorian charm.
