Most People Have No Idea You Can Do This One Awesome Activity In New Jersey
New Jersey has a lot to offer, including a selection of unique attractions and activities. You probably already know about many of them, from hot air balloon rides to vintage arcades, but did you know that you can get up close and personal with an Alpaca near one of our favorite shore destinations? AND, it’s free.
Jersey Shore Alpacas
Located in Cape May, Jersey Shore Alpacas is a working alpaca farm with free "open farm days" on Saturdays from March - December (with additional weekdays in July). Guests can feed the alpacas from the fence line, carrots are even included.
While dropping in on an "open farm day" is always free, visitors also have the option of making a private appointment. Offering a unique, personalized experience, these appointments are just $20 per group for up to nine guests. A private tour guide will be provided AND you will be offered the opportunity to go behind the fence and spend some time with the alpacas in the paddock.
In the fall, the farm hosts National Alpaca Day, offering special activities and interactive fun for all guests, free of charge. Donations are always welcome and help to provide care for the alpacas. This event is celebrated by farms across the country and is held on the last Saturday in September. In November, guests can enjoy a holiday photo shoot.
Fun For Everyone
Anyone can enjoy this quirky activity. It makes for a unique date, great day out with friends and is perfect for family fun. If you need proof that people love it, you only need to take a look at the reviews - there are dozens available on TripAvisor (120 to be exact) and Jersey Shore Alpacas still maintains 5 stars. Visitors rave about the fun they had, how informative their visit was, and how distinctly different each alpaca is - they all have their own personalities.
Alpacas In Scarves
While you're at the farm, be sure to check out their store. You'll find quality fleece clothing, accessories and gifts, from hand knit scarves to socks and toys. Alpaca fleece is known for being extremely soft and makes for a nice reminder of your visit.
This is one of those slightly strange things that you do just to say you did, but still have an awesome time. The reviews don’t lie, Jersey Shore Alpacas is a must-visit that makes for a trip you won’t forget.
