With over 20,000 residents, Portsmouth isn't really one of the state's smallest towns. But, we couldn't bare to leave it off! Located on the banks of the Piscataqua River, it's got a ton of history. Luckily, as one of the most walkable towns in the country, it's easy to explore.
With a population under 7,000, we just love the small-town feel of this beauty. Also, located in the Lakes Region it's one of the most scenic spots in the state. If you have a sweet tooth be sure to stop by Lee's Candy Kitchen to load up on candy for the ride home!
You can't go wrong with a college town. Both the the shops and the restaurants are designed to keep students busy, but the easy-access to the White Mountains makes it easy to spend an entire weekend here. Those who love a good scare will particularly love visiting this spot.
If you love being outside in New England there's a good chance you're already familiar with the tiny town of Jackson in the White Mountains. Despite being one of the most popular for tourists, it offers a charming local feel that can't be beat. And, If you visit, plan to spend some time outdoors. Especially if you love hiking and want to check out Glen Ellis Falls Trail.
Home to the University of New Hampshire, this college town is another state spot offering restaurants, shops and bars to enjoy any time of year. And, it's easy to get to with Amtrak access to and from Boston and Maine. Whenever you visit make sure you're in the mood for fresh produce and check out Emery Farm. This place dates back to 1655 making it the oldest family-owned farm in the country.
This adorable town might just be one of the most charming towns in New Hampshire. Perfect for a day trip that includes shopping along the town's main street, this is a great place for someone visiting the state for the first time. Especially great for nature lovers, quite a few people visit for the wonderland of trails just a few minutes from downtown.
