The Palmetto State is known for its outstanding contributions to the tourism industry. Riley Moore Falls near Long Creek, for example, is one such gem that leaves visitors with a deep appreciation for nature and preservation. It is also the place to cool off and relax in the summer while taking advantage of the incredible photo opportunities the area presents.
To get to this hidden gem of a beach, you have to take a 1.9-mile trail. Though the hike is rated moderate, it may be hard to locate it off the FS 748-C, since the sign is tucked away from the road.
The well-maintained trail descends gently to the Chauga River, through a shady hardwood forest of oak and hemlock. You should keep an eye out for the Riley Moore Falls sign on the left-hand side of the trail. The hike down is easy but heading back to the trailhead may require a bit more effort as the terrain is pretty rough.

At the end of the trail lies a beautiful sandy beach where you can rest and admire the waterfall. The beach is sizeable and can accommodate dozens of people.
At 12 feet high and 100 feet wide, Riley Moore Falls plummets into the calm swimming hole at its base.
On a warm day, the water is cool and inviting, and you’re welcome to wade in it with your loved ones.
Along the left bank, you will find a large sandbar that allows you to walk to the base of the falls for a refreshing shower. If you do not care to swim, you can lay a blanket on the sand or on the comfortable logs at the far end of the sandbar.
Since Riley Moore Falls is well-hidden, you might have the beach and waterfall to yourself, or sometimes, to share with a small group of people.
