You’ll Fall In Love With The Tiny Waterfall Hiding Along This Breathtaking South Carolina Trail

The Oconee Bells Nature Trail at Devils Fork State Park is named for the rare Oconee Bell flowers that burst into bloom along the trail during the spring season each year. They are beautiful little wildflowers that can only be found in some parts of the southern Appalachians in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Although these flowers are certainly the main attraction for this trail that was named for them, there are also a couple of waterfalls along this hike. Both of the waterfalls are small, with one being particularly tiny. Even so, regardless of their size, waterfalls just have a way of capturing the hearts of nature lovers, don't they? This waterfall hike in South Carolina is a perfect warm-weather adventure.

The best time of year to hike this waterfall trail and to catch the Oconee Bells in bloom is during mid-March through mid-April. Check the Devils Fork State Park page of the South Carolina Parks website for information on guided hikes during April.

The flowers can be found in clusters all along the banks of the water. They're small, only about an inch in size.

Even though the Oconee Bells are the star of this waterfall hike in South Carolina, there are certainly other beautiful flowers along the trail during the spring season as well.

But if you're unable to visit in the spring, you'll still have the sounds of water and two pretty little waterfalls to enjoy along this hike year-round!

Catching the trail at just the right time of year when you can see the Bells with the waterfall in the background is definitely a win-win! Picture-perfect.

This is the larger of the two, but even it is not a big waterfall. Sometimes simple is better!

The trail is a loop and only a mile long. It's considered an easy hike; although, there are plenty of roots to look out for as well as some inclines to maneuver. It's a nice trail for kids as well as pets on a leash.

Have you ever seen this tiny waterfall and the Oconee Bells in bloom?
